Nick Emenhiser will lead our expansion into Tulsa.

To lead this initiative, Mercy Housing has appointed Nick Emenhiser, a seasoned professional dedicated to community development and housing accessibility. “As a kid growing up in Oklahoma, I was very inspired by its historic architecture and diverse, tight-knit communities,” Nick shared. “Today, this region, especially Tulsa, delivers nationally acclaimed community initiatives; It is an honor to contribute to this community-led vision. Mercy Housing will deliver quality service-enriched housing that this rapidly growing region needs, notably with the deep foundation and community support that only Mercy can assemble,” he added.

The Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation Grant

The expansion is made possible through a generous grant of $750,000 from The Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation. These funds will support three years of operations to establish a Tulsa office of Mercy Housing, focused on constructing and operating new rental housing in the community.

“Having Mercy Housing come to town is a game changer for Tulsa. Addressing our housing shortage will take a strong organization with an established track record of catalytic, affordable, and permanent supportive housing development. Mercy will be critical to supplementing the work underway within our community,” added Bill Major, President of The Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation. “Mercy Housing, as one of the nation’s largest non-profit housing organizations, brings immediate energy to this effort, and is equipped for early success with the hiring of a veteran affordable housing developer to lead their local efforts.”

“We are thrilled to partner with The Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation and other dedicated local organizations as we begin laying the groundwork for our efforts in Tulsa,” said Shelly Marquez, President of Mercy Housing Mountain Plains Region. “This expansion aligns with our deep commitment to create stable, vibrant, and healthy communities through affordable, service-enriched housing.”

The expansion into Tulsa will involve a holistic approach to community development. Key components include building new multifamily housing, offering onsite resident services and dedicated property management, and cultivating strong local partnerships. Sustainability and community involvement remain core to the initiative. We are actively pursuing further funding and collaborations to advance our mission and broaden our impact.
