Volunteer spotlight: Meet Dr. Rebecca Haag Guyne

In her words

“It is such a joy to share my experience working with the wonderful seniors at Page Commons. Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of planning and leading the monthly craft classes and couponing food and hygiene products. Additionally, I help with special events and holiday festivities.

The seniors are incredibly appreciative and genuinely look forward to attending the art classes each month. It is a highlight for many, and the room is always filled with energy and excitement.

The gratitude they express is overwhelming. Whether it’s a warm thank you after a craft class or a kind word when receiving essential supplies, the residents never fail to let me know how much these programs mean to them. It is deeply rewarding to feel that personal connection and to know that my efforts are making a difference in their daily lives.

Seeing the impact

The positive results are visible. I have witnessed firsthand how engaging in these creative activities and holiday celebrations benefit the seniors, including: using their fine motor skills, reducing stress, and helping interaction between neighbors. The arts and craft classes and holiday festivities help foster a vital sense of community.

These activities do more than just pass the time! They provide a therapeutic outlet for self-expression and a renewed sense of purpose. Seeing the crafters’ happiness and improved quality of life is the greatest testament to the success of the arts and crafts program at Page Commons.

As a final note, I wanted to share that the leadership at Page Commons is nothing short of visionary, fueled by a deep-seated compassion for our senior community. Carrie continues daily to cultivate an environment that is as empowering as it is supportive, ensuring that every senior feels seen, valued, and cared for. Carrie has created a holistic program that addresses both the physical and emotional needs of our seniors. Her dedication is the heartbeat of this community, turning Page Commons into a place where residents don’t just reside, but truly thrive.”
